The Happiest Place On Earth

Yes, it's true.  I skipped out on my partner the day before our big final project was due in order to go to Disneyland with a really cool  bunch of people.  We left Friday afternoon (May 15, 1998) and came back sunday evening, spending all of saturday in The Happiest Place on Earth.  We made it to almost every major ride, joked around, ate some scary mouse-shaped food, scared a large number of little kids and their parents, and just had a jolly-good time. It was an absolutely wonderful trip and here are some of the pictures to prove it.

Ah, a portent to the strange trip.  We weren't on the road more than 45 minutes before seeing this truck declaring, "DIAL 1-800-CRANK IT".  Very odd indeed. And there was the camper full of kids waving with signs that said "We will we will rock you," but we weren't quick enough with the camera to catch them.
Yeah, just barely to the hotel room and already messing around.  Here's me and my wonderful boyfriend, Jared/sp!Ke, having a light saber duel.  They make cool *swoosh* sounds and everything!
After a long hunt for breakfast on saturday morning, we were finally headed toward the entrance of The Happiest Place on Earth.  Everybody was getting a bit bouncy by then. That's sp!Ke up close, Lisa and Ben near the front, and Andrew, James, Anetta, and Josh behind them.
Here's the group (minus me) in front of Cinderella's castle.  We were doing the "50's style gone slightly wrong" that day.  It certainly drew many looks from passers-by.
The first stop was The Haunted Mansion (DUH!), but that was followed quickly by the Indiana Jones ride.  This is one of the welcoming decorations near the door.
Okay, this picture just had to be taken. The image of sp!Ke, with his spiked up hair, walking by a sign that said, "Watch you head. Sharp spikes" just called out to me.
Ahh, the Cheshire Cat.  This was taken while watching the Hercules parade pass by and while waiting in line for the Matterhorn (sp?).
And the wicked queen from Snow White peering out through the spoooky window.  I just think she's cool.
Here's the crowd again deciding what to do.  Lisa has now been joined by her friend Colin.  Josh, sp!ke, Anetta and James, Ben and Andrew.  Fear not, I end up in some of the pictures later. :-)
This is the new spiffy, umm, thing in Tomorrowland.  Every 15 minutes or so, the whole thing spins around and those dishes rise up to some crescendo of theme music.  It's cheesy, but neat to watch, nonetheless.
This is the best group picture of us.  Unfortunately James is the one taking it, so he isn't there, but I am finally in a picture (between Anetta and Jared).  Again, we're in the new Tomorrowland.  Isn't it futuristic?
Here's Lisa, just before getting kicked off the Tomorrowland sign by a old-time bus driver from Main Street.  Hee hee...
I don't know what it is with me and funny signs (ask me about the Sullen Beauty Salon), but here's another one.  "To load your log..."  comes from Splash Mountain. Also know as  Flash Mountain because of the people lifting their shirts for the pictures.  Yes, in fact, my dear Jared lifted his shirt as we went down.  The workers saw nipples and we had our picture censored.  *sigh*
We went to go buy some mouse ears because, well, when you're in Disneyland, that's what you do.  James decided to try on some of the other hats before settling on the spiffy eared top hat.
Here's the most disgustingly cute picture of me and Jared.  Frightening, isn't it?  Yes, of course I love it. :-)
We went to see the super-cool Fanstamic water-parade show thing at night.  It was really really really neat and I took lots of pictures, but since it was 10:30pm, this is what they looked like.  Bummer.
Here's a bunch of us resting our feet at the end of the night, chatting, listening to those amazing pianists, and drinking coffee.  We were getting even more strange by this point.  You can see that in the picture.
We eventually went back for the Indiana Jones ride.  These are the spikes that we had been warned about.  Look!  It's just like the movie!
Last, but not least, here is a sweet photo of James and Anetta

Phew!
